Expert on Armenian issue, Professor Doctor Turkkaya Ataov commented on the recent developments in the relations between Turkey and Armenia. Stressing that Turkey-Armenia relations are progressing against the interests of Turkey, Ataov said, “Turkey is not known very well and is being underestimated in the Western World.
On the other hand, Western countries approach Armenians with sympathy as they are the followers of same religion. They are using Armenians against Turkey as a weapon as Armenians are good organized and as they are financially and politically strong.”
ARMENIANS VIOLATING U.N. DECISIONS
Stating that steps of Turkey have appeared to be in the favor of foreign countries, Ataov said, “Turkey closed its borders with Armenia following the occupation of Azerbaijani land by Armenian armed forces. On the other hand, the issue of opening of borders is brought on the agenda although the occupation still continues. Armenians are violating decisions of United Nations related to the Nagorno-Karabakh problem. Before the occupation, about 90 percent of the people in the region were Azerbaijani Turks.”
