Turkey supports Russian role in resettlement of Karabakh conflict

Justice and Development Party Deputy General Secretary and Head of Russia Friendship Group Salih Kapusuz evaluated his visit to Russia to Regnum news agency.

When he is asked whether the Zurich protocols will be ratified or not, Kapusuz said, "Before anything else I want to underscore that Turkey is towards normalization of relations with Armenia. We followed the path we supposed to, and we signed the protocols. The document is at the parliament now. But Armenia should behave responsible too and should withdraw from the occupied lands that they name as "security zone". According to Ankara, it is time for Russia to speak out loud. Russia should convince Yerevan administration that they will guarantee the security. We support Russian role in the resolution of Nagorno-Karabakh problem. If Armenia initiates the process of withdrawal from Azerbaijani lands, then Turkish Parliament will take action. There might be progress in the issue during the visit of Russian President Dmitry Medvedev to Turkey."
