The Azerbaijani Youth Organization of Refugees and IDPs believes although over 18 years passed since the Khojali genocide, so far the world community has not recognized it.

“We want the Armenian terrorist and criminals, who murdered hundreds civilians in the Khojali region to stand the trial,” Organization Chairman Vugar Gadirov said today.

The Armenian troops committed genocide in Khojali on Feb. 26, 1992. The tragedy began early morning. Within hours, over 613 unarmed Azerbaijani citizens were killed and among them were 106 women and 83 children. About 1,000 people were disabled by shots; eight families were fully destroyed. A total of 25 children lost both of their parents and 130 children lost one of them. About 1,275 people were taken prisoner and around 150 people went missing. Eight families were completely killed.

The organization adopted an appeal to the world community. The appeal says that the world countries’ parliaments must give a political-legal assessment to Armenia’ military crime in the Azerbaijani territory and the Khojali genocide. “We, as heirs of the Khojali genocide victims, want the perpetrators of the genocide to be brought to the court and punished,” the appeal says.
