Vice President of Republican People’s Party Onur Oymen said that the possibility of passage of the so called Armenian genocide resolution in the Foreign Affairs Committee of U.S. House of Representatives is very high.
Holding a press conference in the Parliament, Republican People’s Party deputy from Istanbul, Sukru Elekdag and Onur Oymen commented on so called Armenian genocide resolution in the U.S. House of Representatives and the justified ruling of Armenian Constitutional Court on the conformity of Turkey-Armenia protocols to the constitutional law of Armenia.
Reminding the justified decision of Armenian Constitutional Court, Elekdag said, “Armenian Constitutional Court makes a decision after investigating conformity of protocols to the Armenian constitution. Firstly, it says protocols do conform with constitution and then it makes comments on them. Afterwards United States evaluates these comments of Armenian court as positive. What is the aim of Armenia? Republican People’s Party have always resisted introducing these protocols to the Turkish Parliament.”
Elekdag said that Armenian Constitutional Court’s comments on protocols includes unacceptable preconditions and restrictive provisions. Stressing that Armenia aims to put Turkey under pressure, Elekdag said that the relations between Turkey and Armenia will not develop in these circumstances.
Vice President of Republican People’s Party Onur Oymen said that they have been resisting introducing protocols in the Turkish Parliament. Oymen said that Turkey has changed its Armenia policy which was being followed since 17 years.
Stressing that resettlement of Nagorno-Karabakh problem is the precondition for normalization of relations with Armenia, Oymen said that protocols were refering to Kars and Moscow treaties before the justified ruling of Armenian court. “They do not cover these treaties anymore,” said he.
