Head of Caucasus Muslims Department Allahshukur Pashazade urges world community to recognize events in Khojaly as genocide.
Allahshukur Pashazade urges the world community to provide a legal assessment to the Khojaly tragedy and other crimes of Armenians during occupation of the Azerbaijani lands.
“Addressing the heads of states, parliaments, peoples and international organizations, I urge them to give a principal legal assessment to aggression and atrocities committed by the Armenian extremists against Azerbaijan, not to stay indifferent to the tragedy of our people, recognize the Khojaly tragedy as the act of genocide against humanity,” the statement of the head of the Caucasus Muslims Department reads.
Pashazade voiced regret with the fact that the world community has not yet given the legal assessment to mass crimes of Armenians against the Azerbaijani people committed during occupation of the Azerbaijani lands.
On the night of 26 February 1992 the Armenian armed forces under support of heavy technique and personal staff of the 366th motorized infantry division of the former USSR occupied the Azerbaijani city of Khojaly in Nagorno Karabakh. 613 people including 63 children, 106 women and 70 elderly persons were killed during massacres. 487 people including 76 children were wounded, 1,275 people were taken hostages and 150 people went missing.
