Giving an interview to Vatan newspaper, first and only Muslim Congressman of United States, Keith Ellison opposed to so called Armenian genocide resolution that is scheduled to be evaluated on March 4 in the Foreign Affairs Committee of U.S. House of Representatives.

Stating that he has not made the decision about his vote for the upcoming discussion of so called Armenian genocide resolution in the Committee, Ellison said, “I want to learn how will this resolution affect Turkish-Armenian relations. Will the passage of this resolution bring anything good? Will it contribute the relations between Turkey and Armenia or will it negatively affect the process? I do not want to decide before i find answers for these questions.”

Stressing that discussion of the issue in the American Congress is disturbing, Ellison said, “United States should first focus on the genocide that was committed in United States. The U.S. Congress is not the adress for passing such a resolution. We have not recognized the genocide we committed against native Americans. But now they are asking us for making a decision about an incident that had happened on the other side of the globe. It is disturbing.”
