"U.S. does not win anything from genocide resolutions"

E-mail Print PDF
“The fact that the Armenian “Genocide” issue was put on Foreign Committee Agenda itself is disappointing Turkey and its closest allies, like Azerbaijan,” member of the Turkish parliamentary delegation visiting the US, former Turkish ambassador to the US, experienced diplomat Shukru Elekdag told APA’s Washington DC correspondent.

“With bringing this issue on agenda every year, US does not win anything, but on the contrary, can lose. Taking into consideration only US’ problems in the Middle East, there is no country of such importance as Turkey” – he added.

Mr.Elekdag also expects that, even if the bill is passed by the Congress, the US Administration will stop is, like in 2007.

“The main issue right now is to keep the trust. We still have a trust for the US and hope not to be disappointed. The US needs not to lose the trust of the Turkish people”.
