'Turkey has no reasons to further protract the process.'

There must be some changes in the normalization of the Armenian-Turkish relations until 24 April, Rafik Petrosyan, deputy of the Armenian parliament from the ruling Republican party of Armenia and deputy chairman of the standing commission on human rights and public issues of the Armenian National Assembly, told a news conference Wednesday.

'Otherwise, like country’s President Serzh Sargsyan has repeatedly said, Armenia will withdraw its signature', the deputy said.

He considers that Turkey has no reasons to further protract the process, as the normalization of relations meets Turkey’s interests. At the same time Petrosyan added that in case of the frustration of the normalization process Turkey will lose the trust of the world community.

In turn, former Foreign Minister of separatist 'Nagorno Karabakh Republic' Arman Melikyan said that the Armenian-Turkish protocols did not meet the Armenian interests from the beginning.
'This process led to a more hostile rhetoric of both parties', the former minister said.

He considers that Turkey would benefit from ratifying the protocols as 'they fix regulations favorable for Turkey'.

'Turkey attempts to strengthen its positions by protracting the process', Melikyan said.
