Director of International Strategic Research Organization (ISRO) Associate Professor Sedat Laciner stated that Russia has the certificate of ownership of Armenia no matter how hard United States struggles.
Stating that the idea “Armenia would approach to the West if Turkish Armenian borders are opened” is wrong, Laciner said “As we upset Azerbaijan while we are trying to earn Armenia, Georgia becomes isolated. Pro-western triangle of Turkey-Georgia-Azerbaijan is about to break off.”
Director of International Strategic Research Organization (ISRO) Associate Professor Sedat Laciner commented on the recent developments in Caucasus. Publishing an article, titled “United States’ Caucasus policy is not rational,” Laciner said, “If the Caucasus policy of United States was rational, then U.S. would establish all ıf her plans over strengthening the triangle of Turkey-Georgia-Azerbaijan. It is possible to reach Caspian and Middle Asia areas through this triangle. An axis starting from Turkey and reaching to China would decrease the influence of Russia and Iran in the region. But United States did not contribute such formation except Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) petroleum pipeline. Contrarily, we witnessed in several examples that United States was on the side of Armenia instead of being on the side of Turkey and Azerbaijan.”
Stressing that pressure on Turkey to open her borders to Armenia has increased with the election of Obama as President, Laciner said, "Moreover, United States started to threat Turkey that it will pass Armenian resolution from the Congress if the borders are not opened. But United States should know that no matter how hard it struggles, Russia has the certificate of ownership of Armenia. Even if all the neighbours of Armenia open their borders to this country, Armenia still cannot shift to West block. Borders of Armenia with Turkey and Iranare secured by Russian army. Pro-Russian people are so strong in Armenia that people who are against good relations with Russia are evaluated as betrayers.
It is like that United States struggles for the region to be returned to the control of Russia. Briefly, the policy of United States is not towardsher own interests. Caucasus is maybe the only region that Americans and Russians move in the same direction and that is because of the Armenian diaspora in United States.
Armenian Diaspora In US Serves Russian Interests
Stressing that Armenian-American community serves the interests of Russia, Laciner said, "Anti-Turkish policies of Armenian diaspora in US, keeps them away from thinking logically. The sake of United States is not important for them. It is enough for Armenian diaspora in United States just to damage Turkey, even if that will result for United States to lose allher influence in the region.
United States supports the most important ally of Russia, Armenia, although it may result in shift of Turkey, Georgia and Azerbaijan to Russian axis. This policy may cause several energy projects in the region to fail.
