FT: The biggest challenge for "Model Partnership"

E-mail Print PDF
English Financial Times (FT) newspaper gave space to the approval of Armenian genocide allegations in the Foreign Affairs Committee of U.S. House of Representatives.

Publishing the report with the title, “Vote undermines Obama’s Turkey Strategy,” FT wrote that Turkish-American relations is the heart of Obama administrations strategy and U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and several other diplomats seperate much time for the relations with Turkey.

“Despite the Islamic roots of Justice and Development Party (AK Party) government, United States evaluates Turkey’s secular system as a model for the Muslim World. American policians accept that Turkey, which has the second biggest army of NATO, increases its influence in the Middle East,” the newspaper wrote.

Reminding that United States seeks the support of Turkey about the dispute with Iran, FT wrote, “Turkey has a chair in the United Nations Security Council and countries like Brazil and China are indecisive about Iran.” Also touching the process of normalization of relations between Turkey and Armenia, FT claimed that the protocols between two countries are about to wreck.

According to the report of FT, President of the Foreign Affairs Committee Howerd Berman did not pay attention to the warnings of Hillary Clinton that passage of resolution may derail Turkish-Armenian protocols. Berman said, “Adoption of the resolution is a difficult process for Turkish public. But in the end of the day Turkish democracy will be stronger and the relations between Turkey and Armenia will have a better foundation.”
