Commenting on recognition of so called Armenian genocide on the parliaments of foreign countires, President Abdullah Gul said, “I hope everyone will see that such political decisions are undermining establishment of peace and stability.”
When a journalist asked, “You are one of the leaders that attach much importance to the relations with Armenia. You even went to Armenia to watch a soccer game with Armenian President. But there is an Armenian resolution on the agenda in United States. Now Swedish Parliament votes a similar resolution. It seems that passage of the resolution from the Swedish parliament is possible. How would you evaluate this?,” Gul said that so called Armenian genocide resolutions are all wrong and conflicting with historical truths.
“First of all, I want to stress that these resolutions have no credit in the eyes of Turkish people. All are so wrong and they conflict with the historical truths. Politicians, and people who have no relation with the science of history, aremaking decisions related to historical incidents. We attach importance to peace, stability and cooperation. Solution of the problems of peace and stability in Caucasusis veryimportant. I hope everyone will see that such political decisions are undermining establishment of peace and stability,” said he.
