U.S. Minister of Defence Robert Gates stated that they evaluate adoption of the resolution that recognize Armenian allegations as “mistake” and stressed that resolution may severly damage Turkish-American ties.

Giving an interview to Al-Arabiya, Gates was asked, "Foreign Affairs Committee of U.S. House of Representatives adopted Armenian resolution and Turkey recalled her ambassador to Washington as a reaction. Turkey signaled that Turkey’s military assistance to United States may be reconsidered. Do you have concerns related to this issue?.“U.S. Minister of Defencesaid in response to the question, “Yes, I do. This resolution was ratified by Committee of U.S. House. We consider this resolution as a mistake. Turkey and Armenia are making progress towards reconciliation. Protocols were prepared within the frames of that process. Such a resolution may severly damage Turkish-American relations. We hope that Congress and U.S. House of Representatives will not carry this resolution further.”
