Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian has met his German counterpart to discuss the normalization of Armenian-Turkish ties.
'If Turkey wants this process to continue and be successful, it should stop talking about preconditions and artificially delaying the process and should ratify the protocols,' Nalbandian said, according to the Armenian Foreign Ministry's press department.
'Armenia is ready to advance the process that we initiated and the same is expected of Turkey,' Nalbandian said at the meeting yesterday in Berlin.
German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle welcomed the efforts to normalize ties between Armenia and Turkey and to reopen the border.
Addressing Germany's Council on Foreign Relations yesterday, Nalbandian said, 'Turkey’s statements that the adoption of the Armenian genocide resolution by the US House of Representatives and Swedish parliament may obstruct the normalization of Armenian-Turkish ties are a veil.'
He said, 'In fact Turkey tries hard to set preconditions, to frustrate the ties.' He expressed his hopes that Turkey would finally acknowledge the consequences of its activities and would not disappoint international society.
