Armenian Parliament's Speaker: Turkish leaders cannot be taken seriously

E-mail Print PDF
The chairman of the Armenian parliament, Hovik Abrahamyan, has criticized the Turkish leadership over the rapprochement accords.

He told a press conference in Yerevan today that Turkey’s leaders had signed the accords and then made contradictory statements about them.

This shows that the Turkish leadership does not respect the agreements or itself, Abrahamyan said.

’As for the ratification of the protocols, I would like to repeat once again that we have discussed this issue with our coalition partners and maintain our position: the Armenian parliament will not do anything until Turkey ratifies the protocols,’ Hovik Abrahamyan said.

In turn, the leader of the Prosperous Armenia Party, Gagik Tsarukyan, said that it was Turkey that had closed the border and it was Turkey that would have to open it. ’If Ankara does not want to do it, Armenia does not want to either. We have shown our good will to the whole world and now it is Turkey’s turn,’ Tsarukyan said.
