Egemen Bagish criticized West’s position on the recognition of the so-called “Armenian genocide.”
The Turkish State Minister and head negotiation on EU accession Egemen Bagish criticized West’s position on the recognition of the so-called “Armenian genocide” answering the question of the German Spiegel magazine.
As for whether Turkey will leave NATO in case the United States recognizes “Armenian genocide,” the state minister said: “Turkey is not going to leave NATO. However, I can say that the United States provides 70% of logistic support to its army in Iraq via the base in Injirlik,” 1news.az reports with reference to Hurriyet.
“You are speaking of genocide that I would like to remind you that Igdir has a Museum of Genocide of Turkis who died in 1915. Unfortunately, West does not remember these victims. Meanwhile, our government does not reject that the elasticities residing in Turkey have seen hard sufferings including Armenians,” Bagish said.
He also noted that Turkey has never had hatred to Armenians and the fact that there are 100,000 Armenians in the country is a bright proof.
