McCain: "Armenian genocide" is not the problem of today's Turkey

E-mail Print PDF
Giving an interview to Haberturk, U.S. Senator John McCain said that today's Turkey cannot be accused for "genocide" and relations with Turkey should not be damaged as United States needs Turkey.
Commenting on adoption of so called Armenian genocide resolution in the Foreign Affairs Committee of U.S. House of Representatives, McCain said that he recognizes 1915 incidents as a "genocide" but today's Turkey cannot be accused of that crime. "Turkey is an important ally and a democracy in the region. We should condemn the "genocide" but we also should focus on the future. We need Turkey in the region and also in the World. We should not forget that Turkey is a democratic country," said he.
