E-mail Print PDF
President of Turkish Coalition of America (TCA) Lincoln McCurdy sent a letter Wall Street Journal (WSJ) newspaper and called U.S. Congressmen to stand against so called Armenian genocide resolution that was passed from the Foreign Affairs Committee of U.S. House of Representatives on March 4.
Reminding that Turkey's ambassador to Washington, Namik Tan was recalled following adoption of the Armenian bill, McCurdy called Congressmen, including representatives of New York, to unite against so called Armenian genocide resolution.
Stressing that adoption of the resolution damages joint efforts between Turkey and Armenia to overcome their problems, McCurdy said that two countries signed protocols to establish a joint committee of historians and U.S. Congress should not undermine the efforts in the process between Turkey and Armenia.
Calling American Congressmen for not letting so called Armenian genocide resolution to damage the relations of United States with Turkey, McCurdy said, "Turkey is a key ally for the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan. More than 90% of supplies to our troops in Iraq is provided through Turkey. Turkey is responsible of the logistics for NATO operations in Afghanistan."
McCurdy also wrote a letter to Miami Herald and wrote that they appreciate the attitude of Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (Rep-Florida) during the voting of so called Armenian genocide bill on March 4. Stating that Armenian resolution will damage the rapprochement between Turkey and Armenia and that Turkey is a key ally for the U.S., McCurdy reminded that 21 Congressmen voted "No" for Armenian resolution.
