Davutoglu, Clinton Discussed Armenian Resolution On Phone

Making a phone conversation with Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton stated that scheduled visit of Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan to United States is very important. Cancelation of Erdogan's visit to US is on the agenda in response to adoption of so called Armenian genocide resolution in the Foreign Affairs Committee of U.S. House of Representatives.
Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that the main topic of Clinton-Davutoglu conversation was the decision of U.S. House Committee related to 1915 incidents in Ottoman Empire. The statement reads, "U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton stressed the importance of the visit of Prime Minister Erdogan to United States to attend International Nuclear Security Summit in Washington in 12-13 April, 2010."
Foreign Ministry announcement stated that Davutoglu stated that consultation about this issue is being continued and Prime Minister Erdogan will make his final decision soon.
During the one-hour conversation, Davutoglu expressed Turkey's disappointment and reasons of Turkish people's reaction to the adoption of so called Armenian genocide in U.S. House Committee. Davutoglu underscored the critical importance of preventing so called Armenian genocide resolution to be brought on the agenda of the General Assembly for continuation of peace process in the South Caucasus.
Hillary Clinton stated that she understands Davutoglu's concerns and that she is against bringing Armenian resolution on the agenda of General Assembly.
