Armenians reacted to the statements of Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan to CNN International in which he stated that no U.S. President ever used the term "genocide" for defining 1915 incidents. Prime Minister Erdogan's statements to CNN international found space on Armenian media. Commenting on the interview of Erdogan to CNN, Panorama.am wrote that Erdogan's statements that no U.S. President ever used the term "genocide" to define 1915 incidents are not true. Erdogan said in his interview to CNN that he believes U.S. President Barack Obama will not utter the word genocide as no US President ever used the term "genocide".
Refering to the statements of U.S. President Ronald Reagan in 1981 during the commemoration ceremonies for Holocaust, Armenian website wrote, "It’s important to state that Erdogan is quite mistaken saying that no American leader uttered genocide term, since in 1981 U.S. 40th President Ronald Reagan declared in his April 21 declaration: “Holocaust lessons preceded by Armenian genocide and followed by Cambodia genocide should never be forgotten.” U.S. President recognized 1915 massacre against Armenians as genocide."
