E-mail Print PDF
A high level official from the governing political party in Armenia said that Turkey-Armenia border may be opened before ratification of protocols.
Vice Chairman of governing Republican Party in Armenia Galust Sahakyan stated that the border between Turkey and Armenia may be opened before ratification of protocols that suggest establishment of diplomatic relations and opening of borders.
According to the report of Public Radio of Armenia, Sahakyan said, "There is some progress. Because Azerbaijani President stated that Turkish-Armenian process refers to Armenia and Turkey only. In my opinion, Turkish-Armenian border will be opened."
Stating that Washington visit of Armenian President was historical, Sahakyan said, "It was not only a diplomatic success. It was also an important step for the image of Armenia and Armenian President in the international field".
Critizing the statements that borders with Armenia can be opened only in the case Armenia withdraws from Akdam and Fuzuli regions of Azerbaijan, Sahakyan said, "This shows that Ankara needs an excuse for opening borders. Armenia will not make compensations in Karabakh issue for opening of borders."
