E-mail Print PDF
’Diaspora overemphasizes the historical memory to the detriment of normalization of relations with Turkey.’

Armenian political elite should first of all orientate at the interests of the people living in Armenia, not in Diaspora, Deputy Director of the CIS Institute Vladimir Zharikhin said at today’s Yerevan-Moscow TV bridge.

He thinks that Armenian Diaspora often overemphasizes different issues, including the Armenian ’genocide’ problem, but at the same time it does not fully understand vital problems of today’s Armenia.

Zharikhin also said that the Diaspora overemphasizes the historical memory to the detriment of normalization of relations with Turkey. ’Establishemnet of relations with Turkey is important for Armenia in the geo-strategic sense, as it will create for Yerevan bigger opportunities to develop’, - Russian expert said.
