Senator urges Italy to recognize so-called Armenian genocide

E-mail Print PDF
Italian Senator Albertina Soliani, member of Italy’s opposition Democrat Party, urged Italy’s Senate to recognize so called Armenian "Genocide", Anka news agency reported.

“As an Armenian-Italian amity group we call on to pay tribute to those victims together with the Republic of Armenia and Armenian Community to Italy. We believe the global recognition of the "genocide" will contribute to create grounds for new and stable Armenian-Turkish cooperation,” Soliani declared at Senate.

Another Italian Senator Paulo Amato from Berlusconi’s ruling party opposed that even the EU hasn’t put that issue towards Turkey. It’s worth reminding that in October, 17, 2000 Italy’s House of Representatives adopted a declaration condemning so called Armenian genocide.
