Laciner: Armenia Couldn't Deal With the Pressure Anymore

E-mail Print PDF
Director of the International Strategic Research Organization Sedat Laciner commented on the decision of Armenian ruling coalition to remove Turkish-Armenian protocols from the agenda and said that Armenia could not deal with the pressure anymore.
Commenting on the offer of Armenian ruling coalitions to halt the process of ratification of Turkish-Armenian protocols, Laciner said, "There was serious pressure on Armenia related to Nagorno-Karabakh problem, recognition of Turkey's borders and genocide issue. Armenia could not deal with the pressure anymore."
Calling for attention that the decision of Armenia came two days before the April 24 speech of U.S. President Barack Obama, Laciner said that Armenia did not ratify protocols claiming that Turkey is delaying the process. "Armenia did not ratify the protocols although they are a party of the agreement too," said he.
Stating that Armenia expects a move from Turkey which it is not made by itself, Laciner said that protocols were signed last year and no end line was scheduled for the process of ratification. Calling Turkey and Armenia to decrease the pressure they exert on each other, Laciner said, "The last move of Armenia was not the right thing to do and it will harm Armenia more."
Stating that the decision of coalition parties in Armenia aims to affect the April 24 speech of U.S. President, Laciner said that the decision is made under the pressure of Armenian lobbies. "Armenian lobbies urged Armenian government stating that Obama will utter the word "genocide" so soon," said he.
Stating that Armenia's strategy is established on using third countries' pressure over Turkey, Laciner said, "This the the tactic of Armenians from the begining of 19th century. Turkey should continue being firm in its politics."
