Timeturk reports that Oqtay Asadov said in his interview with TRT-Haber that the “attempts of some countries to attach the principal nature to the issue of ‘genocide’ are aimed at putting pressure on Turkey but Azerbaijan will always be next to the fraternal country in this issue”.

“The Armenian  lobby is always trying to concentrate on the issue of the so-called ‘genocide’. At the same time Armenians have committed terror acts against the Turkish diplomats. 42 diplomats died in the result of these terror acts and tens of people were wounded”, the speaker said.

“The aim of the Armenian lobby is clear- it wants the recognition of the “genocide” in the parliaments of different countries to meet their ambitious interests. However, they should not forget that Turks are a great people. Turkey is a big and strong country and it will never accept the language of pressure. Turkey is not afraid of its history and it is ready to open its archives to study”, Asadov said.

The speaker also reminded that Azerbaijan was among the first ones to voice its resentment over the resolution on the so-called “Armenian genocide” adopted in the Committee of the US Congress and said such actions are targeting not only Turkey but also Azerbaijan.

“Our roots are strong enough and nothing can frustrate fraternity and friendship of the Turkish and Azerbaijani peoples. The problem of Turkey is a problem of Azerbaijan and vice versa”, the speaker concluded.
