Davutoglu: Turkey is very involved with future of Nakhchivan

Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said there was no doubt about Turkey’s attachment to the Treaty of Kars.

Speaking to reporters after meeting Parliament Speaker of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic of Azerbaijan Vasif Talibov in Ankara, Davutoglu said that Turkey was very involved with the future of Nakhchivan and will continue to be so.

In response to a question on the Treaty of Kars, Davutoglu said that there was no doubt about the validity of the Treaty of Kars.

Turkey’s guarantor status on Nakhchivan is a clear matter. This is a requirement of the international laws and Turkey’s commitment, Davutoglu said.

Nakhckivan’s security and welfare is our security and welfare, Davutoglu stressed.

Davutoglu and Talibov discussed economic and cultural relations between Turkey and Nakhchivan.

We will make efforts so that the Turkish Airlines (THY) begin flights from Istanbul to Nakhchivan soon, Davutoglu pointed out.

Talibov was also received by Turkey’s PM Recep Tayyip Erdogan. reportedly, the meeting lasted about one hour.
