Turkish parliamentarians expressed opinions about the government’s policy toward Armenia after the foreign minister Ahmet Davutoglu’s speech at the parliament, APA reports quoting Anatolian news agency.
Former ambassador Onur Oymen (CHP) asked why the issues of commission of historians, recognition of Kars treaty and withdrawal of Armenian troops from Nagorno Karabakh were not clarified. “Armenian Constitutional Court will not change its decision regarding the protocols, but we insist that the protocols will be approved. A year has passed since the signing of the protocols, but Armenia didn’t liberate even a village”.
Oymen said CHP leader called on the government not to sign the protocols many times, but he was not heard and the protocols were signed. He said the protocols couldn’t be approved if Armenian troops were not withdrawn from the Azerbaijani lands and Armenia didn’t leave its genocide and territorial claims against Turkey”.
Former diplomat Deniz Bolukbashi (MHP) said Armenian policy, which had no good basis, fell on face. He said Armenia didn’t change its position after the signing of the protocols. Bolukbashi said it hurt Azerbaijan.
Suat Kiniklioglu from the ruling AKP said Nagorno Karabakh problem was on agenda of Turkish-Armenian normalization rather than bilateral relations. He said the protocols contained ideas of peaceful solution to regional disputes and conflicts and it hinted to the Nagorno Karabakh conflict. “We will insist in the normalization of Turkish-Armenian relations. We will reach in the Caucasus what we achieved in Balkans and Middle East”.
