"Turkey may place military base in Azerbaijan"

E-mail Print PDF
Turkey is ready to enter Nakhchivan and defeat Armenia, said political scientist Rasim Musabeyov.

Political experts consider that the meeting of Vasif Talibov, chairman of the Supreme Medjlis of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, with chief of the General Staff of Turkish armed forces Ilker Bashbugla is connected with the security of the autonomous republic.

Political scientist Rasim Musabeyov explained that the Kars peace agreement signed between the South Caucasus Federative Republic (Azerbaijan, Armenia and Georgia) and Turkey in 1921, Turkey may take a direct part in defending Nakhchivan. The political scientist reminded that during the first Karabakh war Turkey warned Armenia against attacking Nakhchivan and now Baku may dislocate Turkish bases in any part of Azerbaijan, said the political scientist.

’In case of tensions, Turkey is ready to enter Nakhchivan and defeat Armenia. It can even ensure the air defense of Nakhchivan. Armenians are constantly reminded of this. On the whole, Azerbaijan has just to ask Turkey and the Kars treaty will not be needed. Under the UN charter, if a country is subjected to aggression, it has a right to defend itself both individually and collectively. Anyway, there is no hindrance for Turkey’s "interference"’, Musabeyov said.
