Armenians also do not believe that Israeli Parliament (Knesset) will recognize so called Armenian genocide although the parliament accepted to bring the issue of so called Armenian genocide on the agenda.
Director of the Institute of Oriental Studies of Armenia, Ruben Safrastyan said that they do not expect Israeli Parliament to recognize so called Armenian genocide as Turkey and Israel are still partners despite all the tension.
Stressing that the probability for ratification of a resolution that recognizes so called Armenian genocide in Israeli Parliament in May is very low, the Turcologist listed two reasons. "Israel evaluates the Holocaust as an unprecendented tragedy in the history and it is not ready to acknowledge that another nation experienced similar sorrow. Besides, despite the recent developments in Turkish-Israeli relations, two states are still partners and Tel-Aviv will not harm Ankara's interests," said he.
Speaking to News.am, Safrastyan said, "In fact, Tel-Aviv wants to impact Ankara by showing its discontent over the recent statements of Turkish officials."
