Turkish History and April 24, 1915

E-mail Print PDF
Incidents that took place in April 24, 1915, are important for us to know our history and the historical truths.
On April 24, 1915, Ottoman Empire issued a decision of arrest against members of Armenian terrorist organizations which were assisting Russian troops invading Eastern Anatolia and which urge Armenian people to join revolts and punish Armenian citizens who rejects to join the rebel activities.
The most atrocious of those were Dashnak, Hynchak and Ramgavar organizations. But the implemention of the arrest decision made by Ottoman government did not even decrease the Armenian terror. Therefore, ruling Committee of Union and Progress government passed the law towards relocation of Armenians and put the law into force on May 15, 1915.
The law of relocation was aiming to protect Armenian people who were settled in the certain regions of the empire, against the war conditions and the attacks of Armenian terroristic organizations. The law was proposing relocation of Armenian people to Syria, which was safer and which was again an Ottoman territory.
The relocation did not include Armenians living in cities as Edirne, Izmir, Istanbul and Antalya and Armenian communities in these cities were not urged to immigrate.
Ottoman Empire was fighting in several fronts in 1915. In those days there was a general mobilization in the country and every gendarme, police and even young and old people who could carry a gun were being considered as soldiers. War and famine was ruling whole empire. Typhus, cholera, dysentery and parasitary diseases were everywhere around. And so, the immigration which took place under these circumstances resulted in some unwanted consequences.
Because of these incidents in 1915, some Ottoman officials who were found careless and guilty were judged and penalized by the government. This is the story of the incidents that took place in April 24, 1915 and during the forced relocation.
Certain Western countries and Armenian diaspora struggles to distort these facts in purpose. They are trying to rewrite the history with fake stories and parliamentary decisions. Their purpose in that is to prevent our country to develop and grow stronger. We know that very well.
The countries, which pass decisions against our country in their parliaments should analyse their own history once. As one Turkish proverb says, "The one who has a roof made of glass, should not throw stones at the roof of other people."
