"Turkey wins another April"

E-mail Print PDF
April, which is considered as critical for Turkey and Azerbaijan is sucessfully overtaken. The diplomacy of Erdogan's government beared fruits. The final shot was made during the speech of Barack Obama on April 24. Obama did not utter the word "genocide", as expected.
During the speech, Obama mentioned Turkish people who saved Armenians during 1915 incidents. The speech ones again disappointed Armenians whose struggles gone wasted. Armenians were furious, because the statement that is used during the speech was not appropriate with the ideology that Armenians base their land claims on and the phrase of "wild Turk".
The consequences of the process that are towards the interests of Turkey and Azerbaijan are that mediating countries, especially United States understood and acknowledged that opening of Turkey-Armenia borders is not possible unless significant progress achieved in the process of resettlement of Nagorno-Karabakh problem.
Turkey and Azerbaijan left another tough test behind despite the struggles that aim harming the relations between two fraternal state. Western countries' struggle to remove Nagorno-Karabakh problem from the agenda did not work.
It is acknowledged that the main problem in South Caucasus is not the issue of opening of borders but resettlement of Nagorno-Karabakh problem.
The allegation of Armenian genocide received a huge blow and Turkey's constructive and peaceful image in the region is strengthened. Armenia created an image of unconstructive and unpeaceful country by halting Zurich protocols and rejecting Madrid principles for resettlement of Nagorno-Karabakh problem.
Other than that, the West and Russia understood that economical development and integration in the region is not possible unless the interests of Turkey and Azerbaijan is taken into consideration.
Briefly speaking, Turkey, and another state of the same nation, Azerbaijan won this April. Do not we always say, "Turkey's fate is our's and it's success too."
Thanks to fraternal country... How fortunate that we have such a powerful and loyal ally. Historian Nesib Nesibli says, "Turkey's existence is the grace of Allah on Azerbaijan. If it is not for Turkey, our situation would be much worse."
