Iranian Newspaper: Turkish-Armenian Relations sabotaged by United States

E-mail Print PDF
Iranian newspaper Cumhuri Islami claimed that the impasse in the process of normalization of relations between Turkey and Armenia is the result of American sabotage to the process.
Iranian newspaper reads, "Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu warned United States to not to sabotage normalization process of Turkish-Armenian relations and called Washington to not to interfere historical disputes between two countries. Turkish FM called American officials to consider the deepness of the cooperation between two countries and to avoid provocating Turkey.
The statements of Davutoglu were towards the recent stance of U.S. President Barack Obama. Obama adressed the massacre of Armenians during the 95th anniversary of the incidents as the worst atrocities of 20th century. The stance of Barack Obama is important since it may affect the final decision of the U.S. Congress related to recognition of "Armenian genocide".
Of cource Clinton tried to decrease the impact of the decision of U.S. Congress and stated that Obama administration's official stance on this issue is different. On the other hand, the April 24 message of Obama made it clear that U.S. administration shares the same opinion with the Congress. This political propaganda initiative in United States, dragged the agreements between Turkey and Armenia towards restarting diplomatical relations into an impasse.
Armenian President Serzh Sarksyan stated that the agreement is halted. On the other hand, there were expectations that historical problems between two countries might be solved through an agreement during the meeting between Sarksyan and Erdogan."
Claiming that the present evidences show that the impasse in the relations between Ankara and Yerevan is emerged due to the negative role that is played by the zionist lobby in United States, Iranian newspaper wrote, "The influence of the negative atmoshphere against Turkey was so strong with the recent decision of U.S. Congress that even the cancelation of the visit of Erdogan to Washington was on the agenda."
