Azerbaijan must overcome its medieval mentality, according to Armenia’s deputy foreign minister, Shavarsh Kocharyan.
He was commenting yesterday on a recent statement by his Azerbaijani counterpart, Araz Azimov, that Armenia needed time to withdraw from the occupied districts of Kelbajar and Lachin.
’As soon as Azerbaijan is ready to return the occupied Nagorno-Karabakh districts and recognize NKR independence, Baku can ask Karabakh for talks,’ Panarmenian.net reported him as saying.
He was reversing Araz Azimov’s remarks that the OSCE mediators ’suggest returning five occupied territories of Azerbaijan and the Lachin corridor, and then Armenia asked Baku for time to return Lachin and Kelbajar’.
