"Armenia-Turkey protocols are on their way to the trash can"

E-mail Print PDF
Armenia-Turkey protocols are on their way out of refrigerator into dustbin, says Stepan Safaryan, head of Heritage faction of the Armenian parliament.

According to the report of Panorama.am, he said that his party has always opposed ratification of the protocols in its current form. However, it is not against normalization of relations with Turkey.

Heritage believes that it is possible to establish relations with Turkey either bypassing any existing problems, or laid them all on the negotiating table. Safarian says the first option is more realistic.

Safaryan said wording of these protocols is advantageous for Turkey. But Turkey will return to them only after 1.5-2 years.

"Turkey it is not going to return to the issue of Armenian-Turkish protocol in the next two years if is not exerted pressure serious pressure,” the MP said.
