European parliament ready to assist normalization of Turkish-Armenian relations

E-mail Print PDF
The European parliament is ready to provide comprehensive assistance to Armenia and Turkey in normalizing relations, European Parliament President Jerzy Buzek said at the meeting of the bureau of the European people’s party held in Karlovy Vary before.

“This is the task that you must settle independently. Meanwhile, we will provide comprehensive assistance to you. We believe that both countries are ready to settle existing tasks and the European Union is ready to assist in negotiations,” the news service for the Armenian government quoted Buzek as saying.

According to the report of News-Armenia, he said that there must be the openness from both sides in the issue of the Armenian-Turkish relations.

Speaking about Armenia’s associative membership in the European People’s Party, Buzek said “this is a good idea because the political system of Armenia is close to the European democratic system.”

“This is that difficult but correct path gone through the European parliament states and currently passed by Armenia. I think European countries must assist Armenia on this way,” he said.
