"Imperialists who teared Africa in parts, should first account for the slave trade before they decieve the world with fake genocides."
Seth Kikuni Mesudi from Democratic Congo said, "They tell us that we gained our independence 50 years ago. But who would call this an independence? While all the regions that gained their independence have already developed, Africa is still the same. Unfortunately, the independence of Africa is out of question. On the other hand, the parliaments of some Western countries discuss so called Armenian genocide. I believe those countries should first account for the trade of slaves in Africa."
Stressing that Western countries used Africa as a market of slaves until 1890's, Mesudi said, "And after 1890's the colonialism began. Europeans, who initiatied colonialism with the treaty of Berlin, colonized Africa for 70 years. They smoked Africa down. There were no borders in Africa before colonialism. Africa is teared into parts now. Ethnical clashes and disputes over borders are what Colonists left behind. And after 1960's the process of independence began. Turkish President Abdullah Gul's speech during his visit to Cameroon was very important. Because Cameroon was the first country to claim its independence and there Gul said, "The people of World, especially the West owes so much to Africa. Turkey comes to Africa with a clear conscience because there is no colonialism in Turkish history. These words summerize the relations between Turkey and Africa."
