According to experts, about 700,000-1,300,000 people emigrated from Armenia since 1991,said UN permanent coordinated in Armenia Dafina Gercheva.

"Meanwhile, the migration processes in the country were caused by the socioeconomic reasons, problems of employment, obstacles for entrepreneurship", Gercheva told a presentation of the UN National Report on human development "Migration and human development: opportunities and challenges".

According to the UN representative, the migration flows were registered mostly from the cities which had a negative influence on the overall socioeconomic situation in the country.

Meanwhile, she noted that the growth of transfers into the country is a positive aspect of serious migration flows.

"Migration and internal development of the country are closely tied, therefore, it is necessary to assess everything in a complex, including in terms of the possible positive influence on economic development in terms of the growth in the volumes of transfers", Gercheva said.
