5,000 Armenian tourists expected to visit Van this year

Giving an interview to Prestij newspaper, Director of Culture and Tourism of Van, Associate Professor Zeki Tastan said that Van aims to attract a million of tourists this year as a result of the city's efforts of advertisement.
Stating that the city of Van took part in several international fairs including tourism fairs in Moscow, Ukraine, Tbilisi, Azerbaijan, Arabia and Los Angeles, Tastan said that city administration does utmost to introduce Van in international platforms. "People who visit these fairs get surprized when they see Van among Antalya and Mugla. Most of them see our city for the first time. As a result of our intensed efforts, there is a huge sympathy and care for our stands in fairs."
Stating that Van also attended the tourism fair in Armenia in the leadership of Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Van (CCIV) with a delegation of 50 people, Tastan said, "We expect to have the fruits of our labor from next year. We have a target of attracting 1 million tourists in Van this year. We have already hosted 200,000 tourists in the first 3 months. We expect 5 thousand Armenian tourists to visit Akdamar church in September."
