Director of Turkish Linguistic Society (TLS) Professor Sukru Haluk Akalin stated that there are 27 Armenian origin words in Turkish language while there are 3,166 Turkish origin words in Armenian.
Making a speech during the "Kypchak Turkish With Armenian Letters Research Workshop" opening ceremony held in Turkish Linguistic Society's Conference Hall, Professor Akalin stated that the institution of TLS studies every dimension of Turkish language. Stating that about 12-14 alphabets are being used for Turkish language, Akalin said that there is no other language that is used with this much different alphabets. "Turkish language is very easy to be written in any alphabet so this feature of it contributed the establishment of a rich literature," said he.
Stating that people of different cultures who live in the same geography affects each other, Akalin said, "Because the existence of Turks in Anatolia and Caucasus dates back to before Christian era, Turkish culture and language affected Armenian culture strongly. This meeting aims to handle the interaction of Armenian language with the Turkish language during its historical evolution. We aim to introduce the effects of our language on other languages. It should be noted that interaction is by two dimensions and we want to discuss both."
