E-mail Print PDF
Azerbaijan’s foreign minister, Elmar Mammadyarov, is scheduled to meet the OSCE’s Karabakh mediators in Venice, Italy, on June 5.

He will be in Venice to attend an event marking the 60th anniversary of the Council of Europe’s expert legal body, the Venice Commission.

Mammadyarov announced the June 5 meeting Friday during a press conference with his Czech counterpart, Jan Kohout, 1news.azwebsite reported according toNews.Az.

The meeting with the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group, mediating a settlement to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, will be a follow up to the co-chairs’ meeting with Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian on May 12. The co-chairs and the Azerbaijani foreign minister will discuss the current stage of the Karabakh settlement process.

The settlement process has recently been bogged down in mutual accusations between Armenia and Azerbaijan over the degree to which eachside acceptsOSCE proposals, known as the updated Madrid principles, as a basis for negotiations.
