The daughter of Turkish Commander Kazim Karabekir, Timsal Karabekir gave a lecture in Igdir entitled "Do not forget yesterday, so you keep your rights for tomorrow". During the presentation, Karabekir told about establishment of Turkish Republic with the pictures and documents she found in the archives of Eastern Front Commander Kazim Karabekir Pasha.
Stating that she always feel different in Igdir, Karabekir said that we owe to the cadre which created the flame of Turkish Republic from the ashes of Ottoman Empire. "Here, i can hear the footsteps of my father. This sacred land suffered a lot. There are the blood of martyrs everywhere. If we forget yesterday, we cannot keep our rights today. Therefore, it is a duty for each Turkish individual to learn and know yesterday, to live today and to be prepared for tomorrow," said she.
Mentioning her father's memories about the atrocity of Armenians in Anatolia, Karabekir said, "As fast as he came to Istanbul he met with Defence Minister Abdullah Pasha and asked why did not he publish the pictures he sent about the atrocity of Armenians. "Why did not you publish those. Despite all these happening, they will in future blame Turks," he said. He says that in 1918. It is 2010 now and we are dealing with such baseless allegations. Abdullah Pasha replied "I do not have any information on these Kazim." Afterwards they gathered the pictures again and published them but they were not found sufficient. Those should have been published in French language and World public should have been informed. The state was suffering of poverty and nobody had a penny in his pocket. But my father said that he found the money and published it. Two books we found in his archive are books that tell the atrocity of Armenians through the memories of a Russian general".
