Speaking at the luncheon organized by American Turkish Council (ATC), Turkish State Minister Zafer Caglayan stated that Turkey and United States' efforts to develop political and commercial relations within the frames of "model partnership" were interrupted by the resolution of U.S. House of Representatives regarding to Armenian allegations over 1915 incidents.
Attending to the program that is hosted by American Turkish Council (ATC) and Turkish-American Business Council, State Minister Zafer Caglayan said that Turkish and American efforts towards development of bilateral economical and political relations within the frames of "model partnership" were interrupted by the voting in Foreign Affairs Committee of U.S. House of Representatives over a resolution that recognizes 1915 incidents as "Armenian genocide". Stressing that the resolution disappointed Turkey, Caglayan said that 1915 incidents should be discussed by historians instead by politicians in parliaments and senates.
Stating that commercial relations between Turkey and United States could not be carried up to desired levels despite strong political relations between two countries, Caglayan said that he holds negotiations with U.S. Trade Representative Ron Kirk over implementation of agreement over strategical partnership on economy and commerce.
