Municipality Council of Konya's Kulu district sent a letter of protest to the Swedish Embassy regarding to the recognition of Armenian allegations on 1915 incidents by Swedish Parliament.
President of Kulu Municipality Ahmet Yildiz and members of Municipality Council delivered the letter of protest to the Swedish Ambassador to Turkey, Christer Asp to be delivered to Swedish parliament
Meeting with Swedish Ambassador Asp, Yildiz said that they condemn the decision of the Parliament of Sweden which does not reflect the historical truths. Stating that there are so many people in Sweden from the Kulu district of Konya, Yilmaz said that recognition of so called Armenian genocide by Sweden disappointed people of Kulu.
"We are disappointed because friendly country Sweden's parliament acknowledged political studies of Armenian lobby which should have been researhed and discussed by the historians. Politicians should not become tools for the ones who distract historical truths. Historical issues and incidents should be left to historians," said he.
On the other hand, Swedish Ambassador Asp stated that Parliament's decision was the unique event which disappointed him during his service in Turkey. "The decision of parliament does not reflect the policy of Swedish government," said he.
