Monument for so called Armenian Genocide to be erected in Geneva

Cantonal Government of Geneva approved the application of Armenian diaspora in Switzerland to erect a monument of so called Armenian genocide in Geneva. Cantonal Government initiated a competition for the design of the monument with an award of CHF 100 thousand. Designers of Armenian descent besides 6 successful artists are invited to the competition.

According to the report of Hurriyet newspaper, Geneva administration picked 3 different positions for the monument to be established at; Square Chantepoulet, Le Square Pradier and L'esplanade Theodore-de-Béze. It is reported that Armenian organizations in Switzerland will make a contribution of CHF 400 thousand for the construction of the monument.

Cantonal Government of Geneva had recognized Armenian allegations regarding to 1915 incidents on June 25, 1998.
