Armenian diaspora in United States called Armenian officials to ban Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) President Mevlut Cavusoglu to visit Armenia again as he rejected to lay a wreath at so called Armenian genocide monument in Yerevan.
Armenian diaspora in USA reacted to PACE President Mevlut Cavusoglu because he rejected to lay a wreath at so called Armenian genocide monument during his visit to Armenian capital. One of the media organs of Armenian diaspora, Asbarez wrote that Cavusoglu should be barred from Armenia.
California based Asbarez newspaper wrote that Turkish President of PACE, Mevlut Cavusoglu should be barred from Armenia if he once again rejects to include visiting so called Armenian genocide monument in Yerevan in his program. Armenian officials told before the visit of Cavusoglu to Armenia that PACE President will not visit "Armenian genocide" monument as he will hold a business visit in Armenia.
The article written by Harut Sassounyan called for attention that several diplomats and ambassadors of the countries which do not recognize so called Armenian genocide laid a wreath at the "Armenian genocide" monument. "The visit of President Abdullah Gul to Yerevan in 2008 became a bad example," said he.
Claiming that Cavusoglu insulted Armenian nation, Sassounyan wrote, "Can anyone imagine a foreign dignitary visiting Jerusalem and refusing to lay a wreath at the Yad Vashem memorial for Holocaust victims? He or she would not be allowed to set foot in Israel again. The Armenian government should take a similar stand vis-à-vis the Armenian Genocide Memorial!"
