"Elections in Karabakh an initiative to legalize Armenian occupation"

Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry stated that so called parliamentary elections in Nagorno-Karabakh is an initiative to legalize Armenian occupation in the region.

Stating that Armenia does not find any support from international community, Azerbaijani FM stressed that so called elections in the region does not bring anything other than affecting the peace process negatively.

Stressing that Nagorno-Karabakh problem can be solved only with respect to the principle of territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, the statement read, "Azerbaijan once again calls Armenia to leave destructive policies to a side."

On the other hand, Armenia called international community to cooperate with seperatist Nagorno-Karabakh regime. Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandyan stated that so called parliamentary elections in Karabakh is evaluated positively by international observers. "Parliamentary elections show that people of Nagorno-Karabakh want to live in independence. Elections showed that there is a democratic mechanism among Central government, local administrations and political parties," claimed he.
