Residents of Van prepare to welcome Armenian tourists who will come to attend religious ceremony at Akdamar Church on September 19. A campaign entitled "We are opening the doors of our homes to Armenians" is started by a local newspaper is also being supported by the governership of the city of Van.
CNN Turk reported that residents of Van continue the preparations for the religious ceremony that will be held on September 19. It is reported that at least 5 thousand Armenians are expected to visit Van. Although the ceremony is scheduled for 4 mounths later, all the hotels in Van are already booked.
Therefore, a local newspaper in Van, that is being published in Turkish, Kurdish, Iranian and English languages, has initiated a campaign to host Armenian tourists at the homes of residents of Van. It is reported that the campaign attracted the interest of the residents and 300 families have already called the numbers of newspaper to be volunteer to host Armenian tourists at their homes. The newspaper will also be published in Armenian language on September 19.
