Experts from Turkish Economic and Social Studies Institution (TESEV) and Yerevan based Caucasus Institute presented a report entitled "Assessing the Rapprochement Process". According to the report, Turkey and Armenia made significant progress towards establishment of diplomatical relations and opening of borders as important developments took place. "But the process came to an impasse because of the Nagorno-Karabakh problem," the report reads.

According to the report of Turkish Star newspaper, TESEV Chairman Can Paker stressed the importance of the continuation of rapprochement process while Alexander Iskandaryan from Caucasus Institute called for urgent resolution of Nagorno-Karabakh problem as the resettlement of the conflict will bring significant changes in the relations. It is reported that participants argued over the issue of the religious ceremony at Armenian Church in Akdamar Island during the Q&A session.

Armenian Diaspora Protested

Historian Sukru Server Aya underscored the destructive activities of Armenian diaspora and said, "It is Armenian diaspora which caused all the mess". Expert Muazzez Ilmiye Cig stated that talking about peace between Turkey and Armenia is not possible unless Armenian diaspora is discarded.

When Maltepe University lecturer Osman Cekic stated that Armenia urges Turkey to recognize Armenian allegations regarding to 1915 incidents, former Ambassador David Hovhannisyan responded to the statements and claimed that Armenia did not call Turkey to recognize so called Armenian genocide.
