Giresun University to Inform Turkish-Americans on Armenian Allegations

Professor Dr. Aygun Attar, Vice Rector of Giresun University, stated that they will inform Turkish-Americans from the city of Giresun over Armenian allegations during their summer holiday which they pass in Giresun. "In the leadership of university, we will inform our citizens to create a Turkish diaspora," said she.

Stating that she met Foreign Ministry undersecretaries to put the project into practice, Attar said, "We will go to Yaglidere in July and August with the experts from Ankara. We will inform about 3 thousand Turkish people that come to their homeland for passing their holidays about Armenian allegations through conference and seminars."

Stating that Giresun has a huge diaspora living in foreign countries, Attar said, "Giresun is a symbolic and famous city with its service to the country during national struggle. Now, as it is a national cause, Giresun University will educate Turkish people over Armenian issue to create a Turkish diaspora." Stating that they will tell Turkish-Americans from Giresun the reasons of displacement of Armenians and inform them over the incidents of 1915, Professor Dr. Aygun Attar said that there are about 15,000 people in United States from the Yaglidere district of Giresun. "Every year, another 100 people from Yaglidere immigrate to United States," said she.
