Turkish soldier’s monument erected on his alone grave in Shamakhi region was presented on Saturday.
The event was organized by the Turkey’s embassy in Azerbaijan.
Turkish ambassador to Azerbaijan Hulusi Kilic, the embassy officials, representatives of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources and journalists joined the ceremony. Azerbaijani poet Bakhtiyar Vahabzadeh’s 'Alone Grave' poem was engraved on the monument.
The Turkish diplomats planted trees in the Azerbaijan-Turkey Memorable Forest around the monument.
Ambassador Kilic told journalists the memorable complex was founded on May 19, 2000 to pay tribute to the Turkish officer of the Caucasian Islamic Army coming to Azerbaijan to prevent massacres committed by Armenians against Azerbaijani Turks. He said the idea of planting the memorable forest in Shamakhi was supported by the President of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources.
The ambassador said Azerbaijan was making important steps towards the protection of environment.
