Russian Expert: Negotiations On Resettlement Of Karabakh Conflict To Take Long Years

Speaking at a roundtable discussion entitled "Armenian-Russian Cooperation and Regional Issues" in Yerevan,  Chairman of Russian Strategical Researches Institute, Leonid Reshitnikov said that negotiations towards resettlement of Nagorno-Karabakh problem will continue for long years.

According to the Armenia based News.am, Reshitnikov said, "Negotiations are being continued since 20 years and they will last long years."

 Stating that resettlement of Karabakh conflict depends on the mutual compromises that Azerbaijan and Armenia will make, Reshitnikov stressed the importance of negotiations towards resettlement of the problem by peaceful methods and said, "Abkhazia and South Ossetia are two good examples. Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili abandoned peaceful resettlement process and he lost those territories." Asked whether Russia will recognize so called Nagorno-Karabakh as it did with Abkhazia and S. Ossetia, if Azerbaijani President Aliyev uses force to resolve the problem, Reshitnikov said, "Aliyev is not Saakashvili. He is completely different."
